Our Mandarin programs are classes designed for children, to learn Mandarin Chinese in a play and fun setting. Previous Chinese knowledge is not required or expected. The teachers will inspire Mandarin learning through songs, games, stories, and other age appropriate activities. The classes will be conducted in Mandarin.

Weekend Mandarin Play and Learn classes were originally initiated by board members of ACE and is now managed by MeiJia Chinese Learning Center.

Our current lead teacher, Rao Laoshi has been with our program since 2011. She has many years of experience in teaching young children. She has taught Preschool and Kindergarten age children both in China and the USA. She also taught at many afterschool Chinese programs at elementary schools including Francis Scott Key and Lawton Elementary schools. She is a wonderful teacher and the children love her.

The classes are held at the MeiJia Chinese Learning Center in the Outer Parkside district in San Francisco. Please email ming@acesfbay.org for more information and referral.

Mandarin and Art Summer Camp:
The Mandarin and Art Summer Camp helps kids learn and improve their language skills in Mandarin through art projects. In Summer 2010, the Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University started sponsoring the camp by providing a native Mandarin speaking teacher. The students participate in classes that include culturally rich activities such as drawing, Chinese brush painting, Yaogu (the Chinese waist drum), Chinese folk songs and poetry, and much more. The camp is small and takes a maximum of 20 children (most of our campers are from the two Mandarin immersion programs in the city).
